Advisory Service for Field Trial and Accelerated Pavement Testing of Semi-Flexible Pavement

Project Overview:

Smart and Green Mass Transit System (SGMTS) will be provided in some New Development Areas. As this rapid transit system will be trackless, Semi-flexible Pavement (SFP) has been identified as a durable pavement along the road corridor of SGMTS, to cope with the heavier weight of the vehicles of SGMTS.

Key Achievement: 

To ascertain the validity of the SFP specifications and to identify practical best practices for enhancing constructability and quality of SFP in Hong Kong, field trial and accelerated pavement testing would be necessary. To that end, field trial in the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area and accelerated pavement testing by special equipment are being conducted to assess the performance of SFP which is developed with readily available local materials.
