CPAS Success Stories｜Promoting the Application of High-quality Construction Products

The Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) has established the Construction Product Accreditation Scheme (CPAS) as a one-stop platform to enhance the efficiency of product approval. The scheme facilitates the adoption of high-quality and cost-effective construction products from Hong Kong, Mainland and overseas for use in local construction projects.

To date, multiple construction products have successfully obtained CPAS accreditation. Notably, an accredited armoured cable was promptly approved by the project team of the Drainage Services Department for application in the “Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns” project, marking the first successful deployment of a CPAS-accredited product in public works.

Once a product obtains CPAS accreditation and is included in the central database, the approval procedures for its application in other public works projects can be significantly streamlined. This not only helps suppliers save time and administrative costs, but also substantially enhances the product’s market reach and application potential. As CPAS product specifications are aligned with international standards, the scheme also supports accredited products in gaining acceptance in both local construction projects and international markets.
