BTRi Participates in "The 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Construction Science and Technology Forum"

31 July 2026

On 30 July 2026, the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) attended the 3rd “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Construction Science and Technology Forum” (粵港澳大灣區建築科學技術交流大會)  in Guangzhou. The Conference brought together government departments, industry leaders and research institutions from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao for in-depth discussions and exchanges on key areas including the development of “Good Houses (好房子)”, the application of Building Information Modelling (BIM), smart construction, and green and low-carbon development.

During the Conference, the Development Bureau of the HKSAR Government and BTRi, together with 13 organisations from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, jointly issued the “粵港澳大灣區「好房子」共建倡議書”. The initiative calls for deeper collaboration among governments, industry and research institutions across the three places to advance technological innovation, mutual recognition of technical standards, green and low-carbon development, and quality control throughout the entire construction process.

BTRi was also invited to deliver a thematic presentation titled “From Quality Construction to Global Opportunities: Creating New Value for “Good Houses” through MiC and CPAS”. The presentation highlighted how BTRi is leveraging Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) and enhances local construction standards through and the Construction Product Accreditation Scheme (CPAS) to enhance local construction standards, provide accreditation services for innovative construction materials and technologies, and contribute to the development of Greater Bay Area standards – with the vision of extending the “Good Houses” concept from the Greater Bay Area to the global stage, opening up broader development opportunities.

BTRi will continue to leverage Hong Kong’s unique advantages and fulfil its roles as a “super connector” and a “super value-adder”. Through applied R&D, standards development, and accreditation schemes, BTRi aims to build a two-way bridge for construction technologies and products – enabling them to be brought into Hong Kong while facilitating their expansion into overseas markets. By complementing the strengths of the Greater Bay Area and creating added value through collaboration, BTRi will work with its partners to lead the construction industry towards a high-performing and innovation-driven ecosystem.
