BTRi Welcomes Shanghai Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development for Professional Exchange on MiC Development

On 19 May 2026, a delegation from the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (上海市住房和城鄉建設管理委員會) visited the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) office for exchanges on Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) and construction innovation.

During the meeting, the Development Bureau presented an overview of Hong Kong’s MiC development, covering policy direction and implementation progress. BTRi highlighted its ongoing initiatives to promote the wider adoption of MiC, including the MiC Manufacturer Accreditation Scheme (MiC-MAS), the advancement of MiC standards, and the application of innovative materials and technologies. All parties engaged in in-depth discussions on practical experience and key strategies for promoting the development of MiC.

This exchange has laid a strong foundation for enhanced collaboration between Hong Kong and Shanghai in advancing MiC technology. BTRi remains committed to leveraging these engagements to advance MiC development on a broader front and contribute to the nation’s high-quality development.
