BTRi Visits Shenzhen for Construction Technology Exchanges, Expanding New Opportunities for Shenzhen–Hong Kong Collaboration
On 21 May 2026, a delegation from the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) visited Shenzhen to engage a series of construction technology exchange activities. The delegation held in-depth discussions with the Housing and Construction Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality (深圳市住房和建設局), Shenzhen Institute of Building Research Co., Ltd. (深圳建科院) , the Shenzhen Construction Engineering Standards Institute (深圳市建設工程標準學會), the Public Works Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality (深圳市建築工務署), and the Shenzhen Green and Intelligent Construction Association (深圳市綠色與智能建造學會), with a view to deepening Shenzhen–Hong Kong collaboration across several key areas:
Housing and Construction Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality × Shenzhen Construction Engineering Standards Institute
BTRi met with the Housing and Construction Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality and Shenzhen Construction Engineering Standards Institute to conduct technical exchange on engineering and construction standards. Discussions focused on the application of innovative materials and technologies, recent developments in construction standards in both regions, and exchange on the development of Greater Bay Area (GBA) standards.
Shenzhen Institute of Building Research
The delegation visited the Shenzhen Institute of Building Research, touring the “iBR Headquarters Building” and “iBR Future Complex” to understand their initiatives in green construction technologies. Both sides also engaged in professional exchanges on digital technologies and construction product testing.
Public Works Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality x Shenzhen Green and Intelligent Construction Association
With the coordination of the Shenzhen Green and Intelligent Construction Association, the BTRi delegation visited the Public Works Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality. During the visit, BTRi introduced its work across three core areas: Applied R&D, Standards Advancement, and Accreditation and Certification. BTRi also shared the latest development and practical experience on the Construction Product Accreditation Scheme (CPAS) and the Modular Integrated Construction Manufacturer Accreditation Scheme (MiC-MAS).
Looking ahead, BTRi will continue to strengthen its role as a construction technology innovation hub in the GBA by fostering deeper Shenzhen–Hong Kong collaboration, advancing construction standards, driving technological innovation, and promoting wider adoption of accreditation and certification frameworks.
