BTRi Reinforces Hong Kong’s Role as a Global Gateway for Construction Innovation at the Belt and Road Summit 2026

The Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) participated in the 11th Belt and Road Summit held from September 9 to 10, 2026, where BTRi’s strategic role in advancing construction innovation through accreditation schemes and standards for the global construction industry was brought to the fore before a distinguished audience of policymakers, investors, and industry leaders from over 70 countries and regions.

As construction markets worldwide contend with rising demand for innovative solutions to address industry challenges, BTRi presented a two-pronged approach: accelerating the adoption of innovative construction technologies while building the accreditation frameworks that enable high-quality products to “go global” via Hong Kong. Underpinning this approach are two cornerstone schemes – the Construction Product Accreditation Scheme (CPAS) and the Modular Integrated Construction Manufacturer Accreditation Scheme (MiC-MAS) — which provide measurable quality assurance that elevates standards, strengthens supply chain reliability, and establishes trusted pathways for construction innovation to reach international markets with confidence.

These initiatives reflect BTRi’s broader mission to position Hong Kong as a gateway linking Mainland innovation with international markets. Leveraging the city’s recognised strengths in quality infrastructure delivery and its unique role as a “Super Connector” and “Super Value-adder,” BTRi is charting a road for innovative building technologies and materials toward global opportunities across Belt and Road economies and beyond.
