BTRi Charts the Course for Trusted AI in Construction at the ACEHK Annual Seminar 2026
On 4 September 2026, the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) participated in the ACEHK Annual Seminar 2026 — “Infra Intelligence: Application & Governance” — gathering industry leaders, practitioners and policymakers to explore the latest advancements in digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and governance frameworks in infrastructure development.
Ir LEE Tai-on, Section Head (Applied R&D) of BTRi, delivered a presentation titled “Trusted AI for Construction: From Innovation, Adoption to Verification”. He outlined BTRi’s systematic approach to making AI practical and trusted for the construction industry — from the discovery of high-impact AI use cases with reasonable maturity in technology and the identification of enabling measures to facilitate AI adoption, to the ongoing establishment of a performance verification framework to assess AI solutions against baseline criteria for specific applications.
Looking ahead, BTRi remains focused on lowering the adoption barrier — enabling the industry to move confidently from experimentation to everyday application, backed by transparent benchmarks, trusted accreditation, and fit‑for‑purpose tools. Through applied R&D, standard-setting, and accreditation services, BTRi will continue to drive the governance and scaling up of emerging technologies — ultimately enabling a high‑performing industry and a sustainable built environment for Hong Kong and beyond.
