BTRi Presented at the“International Urban Infrastructure Green Development and Cooperation Symposium” to Promote Construction Technology Exchange with Shanghai Counterparts

The Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) was invited to attend at the “International Urban Infrastructure Green Development and Cooperation Symposium” held in Shanghai on 26 February 2025, where the BTRi had in-depth discussions with various construction research institutions based in Shanghai. The Symposium was hosted by the China International Contractors Association and organized by the Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute (Group) Co., Ltd.(SMEDI).

Chief Executive Officer (Acting) of BTRi, Mr. CHOW Sui-ping, delivered a keynote speech titled “Promoting Innovation in Hong Kong’s Construction Industry to Support High-Quality Development of the Belt and Road Initiative”, and shared insights on advancing construction innovation.

To enhance technical exchange and collaboration between the construction industry of Shanghai and Hong Kong, the BTRi delegation subsequently visited several key construction research institutions in Shanghai. These included the Shanghai Research Institute of Materials Co., Ltd., the College of Civil Engineering of Tongji University (Department of Bridge Engineering), the Shanghai Weibuild Technology Co., Ltd., the Shanghai Research Institute of Building Science Co., Ltd., the SMEDI, and the China Construction Eighth Engineering Division. Co., Ltd. 

During these visits, the BTRi delegation gained insights into Shanghai’s latest development of industrialization of construction industry and innovations in building materials, and laid the foundation for the future collaborations between Shanghai and Hong Kong.
