BTRi Member Delegation continues Malaysia Visit for Industry Engagement and UHPC Technical Exchange

On 14 May 2026, the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) delegation continued the second day of the executive visit in Malaysia. The member delegation had a productive meeting with Sunway Group, one of Malaysia's leading conglomerates, at Sunway University. During the session, BTRi introduced the Construction Product Accreditation Scheme (CPAS) and the Modular Integrated Construction Manufacturer Accreditation Scheme (MiC-MAS), which demonstrated how BTRi’s accreditation schemes serve as a vital gateway for quality-assured construction technologies and products to access Hong Kong and even overseas markets. This meeting paved the way for future collaborations between Sunway Group and BTRi delegation.

The member delegation visited Dura Technology Sdn Bhd for an in-depth technical exchange on Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC). Key highlights included:

·      Explored the strategic advantages of UHPC in terms of its structural efficiency, durability, sustainability, and cost benefits in construction projects.

·      Identified the most effective and practical industry use cases for UHPC.

·      Observed a live manufacturing tour, including critical stages of UHPC structural element production, such as the specialised mixing process, the live casting of a pretensioned UHPC I-shape beam and a UHPC sheet pile, and the review of rigorous quality control protocols.

The day concluded with site visits to two local bridge projects, allowing the delegation to explore real-world applications of UHPC in large-scale infrastructure delivery.

Following the recent launch of Hong Kong’s first Technical Guidelines and Particular Specification for the Structural Use of UHPC, BTRi remains committed to promoting the wider adoption of UHPC and advancing cutting-edge construction technologies.
