BTRi Industry Briefing on Technical Circular No. 2/2026 and MiC-MAS Update
On 17 March 2026, Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) organised an industry briefing to support Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) manufacturers in understanding the latest requirements arising from Development Bureau Technical Circular (Works) No. 2/2026.
The Circular, issued on 9 February 2026, sets out that, with effect from 1 April 2026, public works projects will adopt the list of MiC manufacturers accredited under the Modular Integrated Construction Manufacturer Accreditation Scheme (MiC-MAS) - including holders of both Full Certificate and Provisional Certificate - as the approved list of MiC suppliers for projects, this represents a significant milestone in the quality assurance of MiC in Hong Kong.
In response to this requirement, BTRi organised an industry briefing session for MiC manufacturers and professionals, as well as invited the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency and MiCLab of HKU to share MiC-MAS assessment procedures and advanced MiC technologies. The session covered the following topics:
· An Overview of the Technical Circular
· A detailed introduction to the MiC-MAS, including the assessment and surveillance audit process
· Latest developments in advanced MiC technologies
Streamlined approval measures and global business opportunities for MiC-MAS-accredited manufacturers
The strong participation reflected the industry’s keen interest in quality assurance, compliance and future-ready development in MiC. BTRi remains committed to supporting MiC development through providing accreditation and certificationto strengthen its quality and reliability.
