BTRi Attends and Presents at CNERC, PolyU and HKCMSA Technical Seminar on Effective Use of High-Strength Steel in Construction

On 21 November 2025, Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) was invited to attend the Technical Seminar on Effective Use of S690 to S960 High Strength Steel in Construction. The seminar was jointly organised by the Chinese National Engineering Research Centre for Steel Construction (Hong Kong Branch)(CNERC), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), and the Hong Kong Constructional Metal Structures Association (HKCMSA).

Ir WONG Kwok-Fai, Alfred, Chief Executive Officer of BTRi, delivered a presentation titled “From Research to Reality: Forging future with lighter, stronger, and greener structures in GBA” at the seminar. In view of the massive benefits of high-strength steel, he elaborated on BTRi’s initiatives to promote its wider application in the construction industry through three key approaches: applying high-strength steel to structural components, advancing corresponding standards, and introducing relevant certification schemes. BTRi remains committed to fostering the application of innovative materials and realising their benefits for the construction industry.
