BTRi and LRQA Sign MoU to Shape Hong Kong’s Global Gateway with MiC
On 30 October 2026, Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) was pleased to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LRQA. LRQA operates BOPAS, the internationally recognised assurance scheme for offsite and modular construction. The partnership marks an important step in advancing Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) assurance on the international stage. The MoU was signed by BTRi Chairperson Ir HON Chi-keung, GBS, JP, and LRQA Consultant Mr Terry MUNDY, with BTRi's leadership and a UK delegation of government and industry representatives present.
The collaboration brings together Hong Kong's MiC expertise and LRQA's international assurance experience. The two organisations will exchange technical knowledge, explore ways to enhance MiC assessment and accreditation for the global market, and pursue joint initiatives that foster innovation and sustainable practices. This MoU reflects BTRi's ongoing mission to establish Hong Kong as a MiC Centre of Excellence and a global gateway for MiC. BTRi will continue to drive integrated supply chain development, build cross-border partnerships and lead the industry towards a higher-quality, more sustainable future.
