Advancing MiMEP Standardisation through Continued Industry Engagement
Supporting the HKSAR Government’s commitment to promoting Multi-trade Integrated Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MiMEP) adoption, the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) is conducting MiMEP Standardisation Study, commissioned by the Architectural Services Department. The study aims to develop a practical and scalable standardisation framework covering system, product and assembly levels, thereby enhancing efficiency and consistency in the delivery of public works projects.
In this connection, BTRi has organised two industry engagement workshops on 8 May 2026 and 9 June 2026 to gather feedback from key stakeholders on the initial proposals. Two workshops gathered approximately 40 representatives across government departments, consultants, and contractors to understand real-world implementation challenges, gather practical feedback to improve constructability, as well as review the initial study findings and proposed standardisation framework. These valuable insights will directly shape the next stage of the study.
BTRi places strong emphasis on industry collaboration and will continue engaging stakeholders to formulate implementation strategies and promote the adoption of advanced technologies. These collective efforts will enhance industry readiness and pave the way for more productive, consistent, and high-quality MiMEP project delivery across the construction industry.
