6 October 2025

Commissioned by:

Project Overview:

Commissioned by the ArchSD for the Construction of the District Court at Caroline Hill Road (high-rise building) and the DSD for the Yuen Long Effluent Polishing Plant (infrastructure public works project), the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) with support from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has initiated further study on the pilot adoption of the Distant Tower Crane Command System. The projects aim to enhance occupational safety and health for operators while improving construction productivity. The Distant Tower Crane Command System presents a solution to address skilled labor shortages and safety risks associated with traditional crane operations, offering transformative potential for the Hong Kong construction industry.

Key Objective:

To deliver a comprehensive set of practical guidelines and specification for implementing the Distant Tower Crane Command System. These resources are intended to promote wider adoption of the system, thereby improving the efficiency, productivity, and safety of construction projects.
