BTRi Showcases Applied Research Driving Hong Kong's Sustainable Built Environment at Eco Expo Asia 2026
From 26 to 29 October 2026, the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) took part in Eco Expo Asia 2026. This leading regional platform brought together green technologies, products and solutions from around the world. At the expo, BTRi presented how its applied research projects turn sustainability goals into practical, deployable solutions for Hong Kong's construction sector.
BTRi showcased a portfolio of impactful research developed in partnership with government departments and academic partners. These initiatives tackle critical urban challenges by converting waste into construction materials, pioneering low-carbon binders that reduce carbon footprint, and conserving freshwater resources. Collectively, these projects demonstrate a scalable pathway to achieving Hong Kong's zero-landfill goals, cutting embodied carbon, and advancing water resilience.
These projects reflect BTRi's mission to connect research, standards and industry practice in pursuit of a sustainable built environment. As a trusted partner to government and industry, BTRi will continue to turn research into practical solutions for a greener, low-carbon and more resilient built environment in Hong Kong and beyond.
