BTRi Shares Insights on AI, Robotics and Innovation in the GBA at ArchSD’s “New Quality Productive Force” Sharing Seminar

On 24 September 2026, the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) joined the Architectural Services Department (ArchSD) at the Embrace "New Quality Productive Force" Sharing Seminar, as one of the flagship events celebrating ArchSD’s 40^th Anniversary. The seminar brought together industry leaders, prominent experts and partners from the construction sector, academia and the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to share experience on the latest developments in new quality productive forces and to explore the opportunities ahead. 

Ir LEE Tai-on, Section Head (Applied R&D) of BTRi, spoke in Session 2 titled “Robotics, AI, MiMEP, and Innovation in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) ”. His sharing outlined BTRi’s role in harnessing AI and robotics to unleash new quality productive forces, turning pilots into trusted, scalable industry practice through applied research, performance verification, technical standards and collaboration, while advancing productivity and safety with a vision of total smart construction. The panel discussion that followed, moderated by ArchSD’s top management, examined the practical pain points that the industry must prioritise in deployment, and how AI and robotics can be reimagined as an integrated ecosystem spanning design, construction and long-term maintenance rather than standalone tools for isolated processes.
