BTRi Attends the 2026 GBA Construction Tech Innovation Forum, Connecting Global Markets through Accreditation Schemes
On 9 May 2026, the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) was invited to attend the “Smart Hub Hong Kong · AI for Construction · Building Global Futures
– 2026 GBA Construction Tech Innovation Forum” (智匯香港·AI 造房·築通全球——2026大灣區建築科技創新論壇), held during the 18th China Int’l Integrated Housing Industry & Building Industrialization Expo (CIHIE 2026). Co-organised by the Smart Construction Committee of the China Construction Industry Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Construction Industry Council (CIC), the Forum brought together representatives from Mainland and Hong Kong regulatory bodies, experts, academics, and industry leaders for in-depth exchanges on key topics, including innovation in intelligent construction technologies and the synergistic industry development across Guangdong and Hong Kong.
In its presentation, BTRi introduced the advantages and features of the Modular Integrated Construction Manufacturer Accreditation Scheme (MiC-MAS) and the Construction Product Accreditation Scheme (CPAS). BTRi illustrated the practical outcomes of the two schemes, including supporting MiC manufacturers in expanding into the Australian and Middle Eastern markets, as well as the adoption of accredited construction products by government departments, such as the Drainage Services Department, in public works projects. These examples demonstrate the positive role of accreditation mechanisms in enhancing product credibility, accelerating market access, and facilitating international expansion.
As a super-connector linking the Greater Bay Area with the global market, BTRi will continue to leverage Hong Kong’s international advantages and its well-recognised accreditation schemes to support future-ready construction technologies and products “go global”.
