The Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr WONG Kwok-fai as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective 14 July 2025 for a term of three years.
This appointment follows an open recruitment process conducted by the Board of Directors of BTRi. Ir HON Chi-keung, Chairperson of BTRi, said, "Mr Wong is an experienced civil engineer who previously served in the Civil Engineering and Development Department and the Water Supplies Department (WSD), where he held the position of Deputy Director. He has overseen numerous major civil engineering and waterworks projects. During his tenure at the Development Bureau, he led the policy development for Building Information Modelling implementation and establishment of an underground utilities database to enhance construction industry efficiency and productivity. With his extensive experience in the construction industry and local projects, I am confident he will lead BTRi's team in driving industry transformation through innovative technologies to effectively address industry challenges."
Brief biographical note on Mr Wong is set out below:
Mr Wong joined the Government as an Engineer in January 1993. He was promoted to Chief Engineer in August 2017 and subsequently to Government Engineer in July 2022. From October 2023 to January 2025, he served as Deputy Director of the WSD.
